I have a small collection of old sheet music from various eras, including the late 19th Century and early 20th Century. It's a real pleasure sometimes to sit down with some of these old songs and play through them, listening to the melodic elements that were popular as well as the words the lyricist chose to accompany them. But what's often most intersting is the cover art. It's usually hand drawn, of course, and sometimes quite lovely. Sometimes it shows fashions of the day, which can be a hoot!
